Meet Dr. Michelle A. Prosje, Psy.D.
Licensed Psychologist / Neuropsychologist

Dr. Prosje’s approach to patient care is to care for the whole person and raise awareness of the mind (brain), heart (emotion), and body (physical/medical issues) connection.

  • President of NeuroBehavioral Specialists of Jacksonville, PLLC. and NeuroBehavioral Specialists of DFW, PLLC.
  • Extensive training in education, clinical psychology, neuropsychology, and rehabilitation.
  • Graduate training sites: Emory’s Center for Rehabilitation, University of Alabama – Birmingham
  • Fellowship trained in neuropsychology at the University of Florida in Gainesville
  • Experience working in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, colleges, and outpatient clinics with individuals ages 0-100 with various neurological and psychological disorders
  • Professional activities: Parkinson’s Disease and Essential Tremor support groups; Jacksonville Concussion Collaborative; Multiple Sclerosis Healthcare Provider Council

FAA Neuropsychological Evaluations

Dr. Prosje is a licensed psychologist and neuropsychologist who specializes in clinical neuropsychology and is trained in the Cogscreen-AE (a computerized test created for and normed on pilots). She has attended the Human Intervention Motivation Study (HIMS) required training to evaluate pilots. She also has attended the Aviation Psychology Conference in September 2019.

She works closely with local FAA pilot examiners/Aviation Medical Examiners (AMEs) to provide top-notch evaluations of pilots. These evaluations are NOT covered by insurance. Cost of the evaluation depends on protocol used and background historical information unique to each individual pilot. Dr. Prosje provides testing for the following protocols: Neurocognitive Impairment, ADHD/ADD, SSRI, HIV, and Psychological Evaluations—FYI, disease protocols can be found here.

 Evaluations and treatment sessions are conducted in a relaxed, tranquil manner, tailored to the specific needs of each patient. Our clinic is comfortable, private, and quiet.

Evaluations conducted:
Monday – Friday: 7:45 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Treatment sessions:
Monday – Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Evaluations

(ages 16-100)

NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS: Neurological disorders: traumatic brain injuries, stroke and other cerebrovascular disorders, seizure disorders, movement disorders (PD, ET), neurodegenerative dementias (Alzheimer’s, vascular, Lewy Body, frontotemporal), demyelinating disorders (MS), endocrine disorders, systemic illnesses, psychiatric conditions

MEDICAL EVALUATIONS: (usually covered by insurance) pre-surgical evaluations for DBS, epilepsy, transplants, shunt placement

LEGAL/FORENSIC/IME EVALUATIONS: (attorneys usually involved; self-pay) independent medical evaluations, capacity evaluations, disability evaluations, court-ordered evaluations

PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL EVALUATIONS: (usually self-pay) including IQ, Achievement, ADHD, and neuropsychological functioning; assist with treatment planning; detailed recommendations and accommodations 
WORKER’S COMPENSATION: company-paid

PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS: for differential diagnosis of mood, anxiety, trauma, somatic symptoms, substance use, and personality disorders

Telehealth

We are now doing TELEHEALTH sessions (voice and video).  Telehealth involves the use of telecommunications and virtual technology to deliver health care to you in the comfort of your home.  

We are equipped to help you cope during this challenging time.

We were able to work out a plan for what I needed and it was nice to have options to see her either in JAX or DAL. We went through a whole battery of FAA testing. Dr. Prosje was awesome. She is very easy going and maintains a comfortable, low stress atmosphere during her sessions. We did a ton of work over the course of two days and concluded with a full debrief of the results. No secrets and no surprises. Dr. Prosje is not only good at what she does but it clearly shows she is an expert in her field. Highly recommend if you are in position of needing neuropsych eval.
